The fight for LGBTQ+ equality continues even in 2021. Our transgender friends, family, and community members have been attacked by hate, rhetoric, and false narratives for years. I am glad we put an end to the discriminatory ban on transgender service members serving this country. If anyone is willing to put their life on the line to protect and defend our democracy, we should praise, not fight against such selflessness. I will always stand in solidarity with my trans friends, fellow veterans, and community members to fight for equal treatment and equal rights. Today is a good day for our country to show we will not tolerate discrimination of any kind!
Small businesses are hurting, and the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is rolling out as we speak. The recent federal legislation that passed (and was eventually signed by soon to be Former President Trump) did allocate funding help for our small businesses. In case you own a small business with less than 300 employees, make sure to apply for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) help. I have heard from numerous small businesses that complain J.P. Morgan Chase takes forever to process PPP loans. My recommendation is to use a reputable third-party company like Lendio.
Another program being set up is the “Shuttered Venue Operators Grant.” If you think there is a way to qualify for this instead of PPP, DO NOT APPLY FOR PPP or you will not be eligible for this program.
Per the SBA Website:
The Shuttered Venue Operators (SVO) Grant program was established by The Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Venues Act, signed into law on December 27, 2020. The program includes $15 billion in grants to shuttered venues, to be administered by the Small Business Administration’s Office of Disaster Assistance.
Eligible applicants may qualify for SVO Grants equal to 45% of their gross earned revenue, with the maximum amount available for a single grant award of $10 million. $2 billion is reserved for eligible applications with up to 50 full-time employees (Source).
